April R.E.C.A.P.

The books, podcasts, and products that have added value this month.

Here is your monthly RECAP of all the products, podcasts, books, and things that have added value to my life this month!  Let me know if you’ve discovered any new finds and what your RECAP looks like! <3

Reading

  • Stolen Focus – I’ll be honest, my screen time has been higher than I’d like to admit lately.  I just started reading this book and the author interviews experts and takes you through the psychology of how we are all distracted as a society (especially by our phones!).  He even goes to the extreme of doing a phone free experiment for three months!  If one of your goals is to also be more present and reclaim your focus, add this to your reading list.

  • How to Create a Trader Joe's Floral Arrangement – I stumbled upon this blog post and loved the idea of creating your own floral arrangement using flowers from Trader Joe’s!

Eating

  • In case you missed it, I shared my WIEIAD which you can read here!

  • For the nights I want a #girldinner, I’ve been loving Goodles which is a healthier spin on the nostalgic Kraft mac n cheese that I grew up on.  Mac n cheese with protein and fiber?  Say no more!

Community

  • The charity organization I’m involved with in San Diego, Designing Dreams, is starting on their second bedroom remodel for 16-year-old, Brittany.  She is fighting AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) and shares a bedroom with her two sisters.  Read her story here and if you’d like to help support there’s also an option to make a donation.  <3  If you are local to San Diego we will also be holding a fitness fundraiser on Sunday, June 9th at Feast and Fairway in Coronado – more details to come!

  • Thanks for the feature, Locally Well!  If you live in San Diego (or if you plan to visit), there are always new wellness events and businesses highlighted on their website.  You can read my interview here! :)

Adding to Cart

  • Jolie filtered showerhead – Whether you are renting or in your forever home, I love that this shower head is so easy to install and removes the chlorine and heavy metals from the water you shower in.  If you are using nontoxic hair and body products, it makes sense to use clean water.  I notice after consistently using it for over a month my hair feels healthier and stronger.

  • Caraway Fry Pan – I’ve been seeing this pan all over Instagram and when it was time for a new pan, I decided to give this one a try.  Happy to report that it lives up to the hype!  The nontoxic coating ensures that you aren’t getting harmful chemicals or microplastics in your food, and I’ve found that I barely need any oil or butter when cooking.  The food doesn’t get stuck to the pan making clean up a breeze.  Once my other pans bite the dust, I’ll definitely be upgrading them with other Caraway pots and pans.

  • Good Clean Goop Beauty Face Wash – Goop products are typically pricey, but Gwyneth created Good Clean Goop as a more affordable line exclusively for Amazon that still checks the clean beauty boxes.  I’ve been loving this face wash and am already on my second tube!  It’s a light gel cleanser that foams when you apply it.  I’ve been using it every night with my face scrubbing brush and I love that it takes off all my makeup and leaves my skin feeling refreshed and smooth.

Podcasts

  • Armchair Anonymous: Delivery Driver – I love the Armchair Anonymous episodes of Armchair Expert.  Each week Dax and Monica have a new prompt and listeners call in with their stories.  They are always entertaining, and this episode was about delivery drivers calling in with their craziest story.  Trust me, it’s wild (spoiler alert - if you are a cat person you might not want to listen).

  • The Skinny Confidential: How To Manifest Your Dreams, Stay Consistent, & Develop Great Habits - Give this a listen if you are interested in learning about the power of manifestation and learning more about Mimi Bouchard’s meditation inspired platform called Activations. I have used her app, Superhuman, for a few years and love the variety of meditation inspired tracks that you can play in the background while you are getting ready, driving, or walking.
